Streamlining the Structure to Increase Innovation

THE CLIENT

Dedicated to improving access and quality in animal healthcare worldwide, the Veterinary Innovation Council (VIC) leads innovation in global animal health by developing and championing disruptive solutions to key emerging issues. Its mission is to be an effective steward of the veterinary profession, instigating needed change in a collaborative way that will transform the veterinary ecosystem.

THE CHALLENGE

The VIC board was looking for a more effective governance structure, clearer expectations for board members, more transparency and a defined board strategy. Leadership wanted to enhance its organizational and governance structures, create a model for more sustainable funding and set a path to growth.

MYB'S APPROACH

Working closely with the executive director and the entire board, MYB provided a thorough assessment of the culture and structure of the organization. It delivered recommendations for a more scalable governance structure, sustainable revenue streams, and clearer business processes. Having approved our initial recommendations, VIC further engaged MYB to facilitate strategic planning and co-create a new organizational structure, mission statement, values and sponsorship strategy.

THE IMPACT

Through this process, board members expressed a new level of engagement and commitment to VIC. The new mission statement united leadership around a vision of innovation that advances the veterinary medical profession and leads to improved animal health and welfare. Based on the success of these projects, VIC’s parent organization, the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) also engaged MYB to facilitate the develop their new strategic plan.
