Building a New Association to Energize an Industry

THE CLIENT

As the leading federation of renewable energy companies, American Clean Power (ACP) is a new association focused on expediting the advancement of clean energy as the dominant power source in America.

THE CHALLENGE

The renewable energy industry was fractured, competitive and lacked a unified voice to promote its common interests. Encouraged by changing public sentiment and federal priorities, the CEOs of 25 companies created an advisory board to explore how to unify the industry. The goal of these founding Members was to create a new trade organization that would represent the interests of a uniting pan-renewable energy industry. They identified MYB as the best partner to design and launch it.

MYB'S APPROACH

To design a best-in-class association of the future, MYB started by understanding the founding members’ vision and goals through in-depth interviews. Leveraging our deep experience transforming associations, we developed a nimble and effective organizational, governance, and staff structure designed to advance legislative initiatives, deliver quality member programming and value, promote the industry, and grow the organization.

THE IMPACT

ACP formally launched in January 2021, coinciding with the inauguration of President Biden and his administration’s prioritization of green-energy policies. This timing helped accelerate its advocacy achievements, as well as its membership and overall revenue growth goals. By year’s end, ACP was a $25M organization.
